Improve Dull Skin With These Treatment Tips!
If you look into the mirror and just feel that your skin is missing that oomph! factor, then you’re likely battling dull skin. Yes, dull skin is a common issue, but there are several ways of perking up your complexion to bring some glow to it. Often accompanied by blemishes, spots, and uneven skin tone, dull skin just doesn’t look healthy and can make you look aged.
There may be several reasons for dull-looking skin – pollution, accumulated dry skin cells, dehydration, or even debris from the day. The UV rays of the sun can cause skin unprotected by SPF to appear dull. Stress is another factor that contributes to the appearance of our skin, and high-stress levels can leave your face looking a bit lackluster. Diet is yet another factor to consider – are you eating a variety of foods of different color and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables?
Right, so once you know about the causes, you can begin by wearing sunscreen, eating more salads and fresh snacks, and increasing your water intake. Control your stress levels and don’t touch your face throughout the day or walk out in polluted areas. But still, you have to introduce a couple of treatments for your skin if you really want it to look its best!
Make use of natural ingredients
Products that contain lemon are sure to bring you some glow, depending on how much lemon there is, of course. Since lemon is a rich source of vitamin C, it has anti-pigmentation properties that can boost brightness and improve the complexion. In fact, simply applying some freshly squeezed lemon juice to your face with a cotton ball, allowing it to sit for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing off, is an excellent way to take maximum advantage of its benefits. Of course, some of us with sensitive skin will find raw lemon juice harsh when applied directly to the skin, in which case it can be mixed into a tablespoon or so of yogurt (a natural source of L-cysteine) or even milk which also has wonderful brightening properties! If you’re really keen, add fresh lemon juice to a small bottle of your favorite body wash to benefit from the brightening effects all over your body!
b. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is a source of aloin, a compound that behaves as a tyrosinase inhibitor which helps to reverse hyperpigmentation effects. Thus, it is an excellent product to make use of to eliminate dull skin. If you cannot grab a bottle of pure aloe (sometimes vitamin E is added as a preservative which is fine), then perhaps consider getting the actual plant and scraping out the gel from the leaves yourself. It is easy, and you will know that it is organic! Mix the aloe with a mild abrasive like rice powder, salt, sugar, or other variants you have on hand. Massage gently into your skin in circular motions before leaving to sit for 20 minutes then rinsing off.
After applying something astringent like lemon or exfoliating with abrasives, it is important to moisturize the skin well so that it does not dry out. Opt for a moisturizer that contains hyaluronic acid as it helps retain moisture very well. If your moisturizer contains vitamins C and E, you are doubling up on the brightening factor which is fantastic! Do not exfoliate more than five times a week!
Improve Blood Flow
This may seem like funny advice, but hanging your head upside down over the edge of the bed or the sofa for three minutes in a day can drastically improve the appearance of your skin. This is because hanging upside down will improve blood flow to your face, and the skin on your face will benefit from the oxygen, minerals, and nutrients present in the blood. The difference is noticeable, and it is a simple task to follow to obtain great results! Besides, it will be easy to find just three minutes a day. On the topic of improving blood flow, incorporate gentle facial massage in your routine, either when you apply moisturizer or when you cleanse. Also try using products that contain circulation- stimulating ingredients like peppermint, ginger, or ginseng.
While the most promising beauty products are certainly expensive, it is rather worthwhile to invest your money into your skin because some damage simply can’t be undone, and you only ever get one skin! So, invest in your skincare and reap the benefits of a dewy, youthful, and plump skin.
