Oprah Winfrey
Celebrity encounters with Oprah Winfrey usually leave people inspired. However, this one took a different turn. When Oprah visited Walter Reed, the renowned military hospital, she met a soldier who had sacrificed almost everything for his country. The soldier, who had survived a traumatic roadside bombing, was struggling with severe injuries: Brain damage, the loss of both legs and the heartache of a marriage that crumbled before he even left the hospital bed. This young man was undoubtedly a hero.

The next story of celebrity encounters takes us back to the late ‘80s when Robert Duvall was in Jacksonville, likely filming “Days of Thunder.” A young fan, only 10 years old, was out to dinner with his family, enjoying a rare night out at a nice restaurant in the now-closed Jacksonville Landing. As they settled into their meal, his father, an avid fan of “The Godfather,” recognized the legendary actor. He leaned over to whisper to his wife, excitement clear in his voice, “That’s Robert Duvall! From The Godfather!”
The boy’s parents couldn’t resist glancing over at the actor. Instead of acknowledging the admiration, Duvall shot them an unfriendly look. The family looked away, embarrassed, but Duvall wasn’t finished. He angrily summoned the waiter, whispered something, and grew visibly irritated when the waiter seemed to disagree.
After a tense exchange, Duvall slammed his fist on the table, threw down some cash, and stormed out.
