Five Natural Treatments You Can Try If Your Acne Won’t Clear
Our skin is the largest organ in human anatomy, and it is our responsibility to take care of it, including getting rid of acne and other common skin issues. There may be a lot of causes for acne to grow, such as hormonal imbalance, puberty, diet, or allergies. But how can you get rid of acne?
Perhaps you may have done numerous research and tested multiple skin treatments and products, yet your acne won’t clear. Given the fact that you already consumed all medications and alternatives, here are five things you can try if your acne won’t clear.
Choose Proper Skin Treatment
Many studies show that salicylic acid can clear away acne. But what does salicylic acid does to our skin? Salicylic acid has an exfoliating ingredient that battles against dead skin cell build-up that clogs our pores. It helps to remove dirt and grime on the surface of our skin, which can cause a pimple, but it doesn’t kill bacteria.
That is why salicylic is best to partner with other skin treatments such as Benzoyl Peroxide. Benzoyl Peroxide can kill bacteria that grow on our pores. But one of its drawbacks is that it can be harsh to the skin and can also stain your clothes, so make sure you are extra careful while using this composition. If you have sensitive skin, you can stick to salicylic acid only.
Boost Your Immune System
A good source of vitamins and minerals plays an essential role in keeping your skin healthy and getting rid of acne. Ascorbic acid, such as Vitamin C, also produces antioxidants. It can also produce collagen, which heals skin opening, such as wounds and acne. Oranges, strawberries, blueberries, lemons, broccoli, and cauliflower are rich in Vitamin C.
Another skin booster is zinc. It helps prevent cellular damage and the growth of harmful bacteria. We need to intake food rich in Zinc mineral because our body is not capable of producing it naturally. You can try food that contains zinc like dried pumpkin seed, cashew, milk, whole grains, red meat, and sweet potatoes. And of course, the very popular Vitamin E. This protects our skin from damages caused by UV light and neutralizes the balance of our skin’s oil substance. Nuts and seeds are rich in this vitamin.
Stay Fit with Regular Exercise
We all know that there are a lot of benefits to regular exercise. Aside from health benefits such as regulating our blood circulation and maintaining a good level of fats and protein, it can also prevent skin deterioration. Regular exercise regulates our metabolism, which helps to breaks food properly to supply and distribute vitamins and minerals throughout our body. This can also help our body to produce natural antioxidants.
Replenish Your Skin by Drinking Tea
Keeping a hydrated our body to flush out toxins regularly. Treat yourself to some tea if water gets boring. Tea is the most popular health drink across the globe. Ancient medicine from Asian countries considers this as a medical drink due to its many health benefits to the human body. The benefits of drinking tea aside from proper hydration are inhibiting free radicals, heart-friendly, and a good source of antioxidants.
Antioxidant protects us against free radicals, which profoundly damages our skin. And tea, especially spearmint tea is the greatest weapon in battling acne, according to many studies. But you can also try other tea drinks if your acne won’t clear right away.
Do Not Compromise a Good Quality of Sleep
Sleep deprivation or lack of sleep elevates cortisol level, which can cause inflammation and damage our skin cell. Did you know that it is only during our sleep that our body regenerates? Therefore not having enough sleep can slow down its ability to repair damaged cells because it eliminates the rise of growth hormones which we need in our regeneration period. You can try having a good sleep for at least 6 or 7 hours. But best if you have it for 8.
Just as we are different and unique from each other, so is our skin. Choose only what is compatible and what’s best for your skin to get rid of acne. If you feel that it harms your skin, stop what you’re doing and look for another way until you find something that works for you.
