Five Vegan Superfoods That Celebrities Include in Their Diet

Celebrities – sometimes we love them, sometimes we hate them. But one thing that none can deny is the fact that we are all obsessed with them — how rich they are, who they are dating, what diet they are currently into.
And when it comes to celebrity diets, one of the celebrity trends that have been popular for years is eating superfoods. No, these aren’t foods with superpowers (although in a way, they can be powerful). These are foods that are packed with the much-needed nutrients, improve the health, and let celebrities keep their toned and fit body (Chris Hemsworth abs, yes please).
Here are five superfoods celebrities include in their diet:
Garlic
This spice ingredient is packed with an organic compound called allicin which helps fight infections. Rich in antioxidants, it has also been proven to provide many other health benefits. With regular consumption of garlic-rich meals, you would reduce the risk for several kinds of cancer, compared to those who don’t consume much of it on a daily basis.
Plus, there are thousands (maybe even millions) of food recipes with garlic you can choose from like baked garlic and shallots with quinoa and roasted garlic and butternut squash hummus with goat’s cheese, and so on — all of which are not just tasty but healthy, too.
Sweet Potato
Popular with those into a vegan diet, sweet potatoes are usually include baked or roasted as side dishes to the meal. This starchy root crop superfood is said to be rich in beta carotene and complex carbohydrates essentials for a balanced diet. With other seasonal veggies, eat a sweet potato recipe daily if you want to decrease your chances of getting ill. It’s also a good substitute for rice and pasta if you’re working on achieving that toned abs. You can make charred sweet potatoes with honey and olive oil or if you’re craving for some burger, trade it with a healthier option instead: spiced sweet potato sandwich with feta.
Flax Seeds
This is probably the most popular superfood to date. In order to make your bread and other baked goods and smoothies more nutritious, try adding some ground flax seeds. You can also toss them in any type of vegan salad. It does not significantly affect the taste and quality of your recipe, but it has a great impact when it comes to your health.
This simple superfood is jam-packed with omega-3 fatty acid which is good for reviving your cardiovascular organs. It also contains antioxidant-rich lignans which aid digestion and improve skin condition. So if you want to have beautiful, glowing skin like Nicole Kidman, make your own flax seeds smoothie or flax seeds granola.
Blueberries
Boost your memory with the help of blueberries, which you can have a handful for popping as your midday snack or you can toss some of it as topping to your favorite desserts and salads. You can even have it as a shake, juice, or any chilly beverage on a steamy afternoon. This tiny fruit is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help improve the functions of your brain. The most popular dish this superfood is part of is the blueberry pie and blueberry cheesecake.
Mushrooms
There have been studies that reported mushrooms to have anti-inflammatory properties which can help treat muscle pains and several heart conditions. This superfood has also been known to have immune-boosting effects that could make you less vulnerable to a wide variety of infectious diseases.
One great recipe suggestion for those into the vegan diet is to grill a handful of Portobello mushrooms and have it as tasty veggie wrap filling. You can also combine two superfoods in one delicious meal and make sautéed mushrooms with garlic.
Just as much as there are many diet trends made more popular by celebrities, there are fads that trick people into thinking that they achieved their body just with a healthy diet. So before embracing the diet your celebrity idol promotes, make sure you do thorough research and check with your nutritionist or dietician (if you have one) to know whether it’s safe for you.
Just as there’s truth in the saying too much of anything is bad for you, eating less than what your body needs can be dangerous for you. So eat healthy, and diet responsibly.
