These are alarming numbers as over 30% of the affected adults do not get the right treatment or diagnosis. A major reason for this is the stigma around mental health. The other reason is the lack of awareness on the signs of mental health that one has to watch out for and when to seek help.
In life, all of us have moments of happiness and sadness. It is a combination of these emotions that makes life interesting. After a personal loss, it is normal for us to go through a phase of sadness, which will leave us feeling low for a few days. However, if this feeling of depression, sadness, or emotional low point continues for a longer period, it might start impacting your personal and professional life.
Sadness usually passes with time. However, if your sadness persists for more than two weeks, you should consult an expert. According to a survey, more than 17% of people in the U.S. experience at least one episode of depressive disorder. However, it is one of the many elements of depression.
