Loneliness Is A Bitter Pill To Swallow – Even Celebs Can Attest To That!
When celebrities fall into depression — or sometimes, even take their own lives — we are often left questioning many things. What could drive the rich and famous to such extremes? What possible reasons could celebrities who are at the peak of their fame with no family issues or life-threatening diseases have to end their journeys or cut their life short over? Well, as it turns out, fame comes at a big price, and it comes with a lot of sacrifices, too.
Celebrities Feel The Pinch Of Loneliness, Too!
Take Jennifer Lawrence, for example, a star who rose to fame through her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. She is an A-list celebrity, and her wealth is growing by the day — probably by the hour. But she happens to be lonely. She even opened up to Vogue quite frankly, stating, “No one ever asks me out.” She reveals that she is lonely every Saturday night and goes on to say that men are actually mean to her. She does understand and recognize that these reactions are from a perspective of wanting to gain dominance, like the alpha male hormones coming into play, but her feeling get hurt by this.
We haven’t really considered what it’s like to be a celebrity and to have all the money in the world and having so much at your disposal but no true friends to share it with. Of course, even non-celebrities feel the sting of loneliness when we can’t land a partner who we feel understands and cares about us. Needless to say, the pressure of social platforms that depict others who have everything can be a damper and push people to the edge.
Back to the point – being a celebrity is not all parties, laughs, and happiness. Take a look at the families of Chester Bennington (the frontman of rock band Linkin Park), Avicii, or even Robin Williams. They are all grieving and struggling to understand the loneliness that their beloveds felt in spite of their millions of fans.
What Loneliness Really Feels Like
Let’s put ourselves in the shoes of someone who feels the way they did. Imagine yourself one day waking up to a totally different world. You’re in an alternate universe where everything around you is exactly what you know, but what has changed is that you do not have the friends, family, and loved ones you had. They no longer exist, and you have nobody except yourself and the rest of the world. You are surrounded by people you can’t trust, though they are polite and some even revere you. Now, all of that in addition to being rich and famous where everyone wants a bit of you for themselves, and you’re facing people throwing all kinds of emotions at you and trying to grab you for themselves. It sure is scary!
Would you really trade your current life, full of people you love and care about for a life where they are all gone, though you will have every material desire you could possibly think of? We think not. It is time to look at the world through a different set of glasses – take a different perspective and enjoy your blessings! You have a lot more than you think you do – and probably a lot more than some of the world’s greatest celebrities, depending on how you measure it!
Don’t Let Loneliness Lead You Down the Wrong Path
Here comes the hard truth. There are very few people who can handle the pressures of being rich and famous, and while it may make for a highly eventful life, it probably isn’t worth the price if you won’t be able to deal with all that comes with it. Loneliness is debilitating, and the lonelier you feel, the more you may dream of being a celebrity as you might just think that is the answer to all your problems. Think again! The grass is not always greener on the other side. So when you’re done reading this article, take some time to be thankful for each person in your life who contributes in some way to your happiness – even the lady at the deli who slices your meat or your neighbor who greets you every morning when you’re off to work.
Life is short – spend as much time as you can with a smile on your face and looking forward to every day. Cherish every moment and live each day like it’s your last. It sounds hard at the beginning, but you’ll get the hang of it eventually. If you don’t believe us, just take a look at some of the world’s most famous lonely people – Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Adele, Lindsay Lohan, Demi Moore, Lady Gaga and Cara Delevingne, just to name a few!
