Most people wouldn’t really care about something until they actually suffer the consequences. For instance, you loved eating everything that contains too much sugar and caffeine, then you find out you have diabetes. You also loved drinking alcohol as if it is water, then you find out your liver is suffering. This just means that you must look after your body at all time and not wait for it to start giving up on you to actually do something about it. It is the same with the human brain, many people abuse their bodies by doing unhealthy habits, and here are some of the unhealthiest habits that could totally damage your brain.
YOU DON’T GET ENOUGH SLEEP
People who are sleep deprived will most likely to have a hard time thinking and letting their brain function. Science hasn’t really discovered yet how much a person needs to sleep in order for their brain to actually reach its full potentials. However, you wouldn’t need science to tell you that you didn’t get enough sleep.
When you realize that you didn’t get enough sleep, you would often make excuse for yourself as to why you didn’t, these excuses can only be valid for a few times, because if you always tell yourself that you’ll just sleep earlier the next day or you’ll just catch up on sleep some other time, it normally never happens, because it is starting to become a habit. The brain would then have to suffer, by having to reduce the blood flow making it irregular, as well as effective the cognitive function and behavior.

YOU SPEND A LOT OF TIME ON YOUR GADGETS
There are just so many bad effects of too many gadget usages on the brain. It may cause cognitive delays, increased impulsivity, and attention deficit. This doesn’t just affect adults, because of younger people such as children and especially teenagers, are just too occupied when it comes to their gadgets. Their brain activity has to be exercised more and spending too much time on their electronic devices instead of actually spending time living their life can actually affect them for the long run.
YOU HAVE UNHEALTHY EATING HABITS
Overeating is definitely considered as an unhealthy eating habit that a lot of people actually do. This is because when a person eats too much and foods are no longer needed by the body, it could accumulate residual substances such as fat. It may also harden the cerebral arteries that would affect how it functions. Consuming too much salt and sugar could also lead to high-blood pressure as well as minor cognitive deficits that may lead to stroke.
A lot of people are addicted to smoking, and one of the reasons is that it actually contains nicotine and nicotine actually change the brain because it develops extra nicotine receptors to push the brain to get more nicotine. It would also affect a person’s mood and can increase the level of dopamine.
YOU SPEND SO MUCH TIME ALONE
Spending some time alone is definitely not bad, but too much is never okay. According to a study conducted at the Rush University Medical Center in Illinois, people who have lease social contacts suffering from a severe cognitive deterioration. This can be helped if you choose to socialize more. This doesn’t need to be an everyday thing, but spending time with some family or friends will definitely help your brain health.
Keep in mind that the brain is like one of the most important parts of the body, that is why it is essential for us to take care of it no matter what. The unhealthy habits that people normally do in their everyday lives, may not affect their brains right then and there, it will eventually catch up to them especially when they age, it might even be a cause of them having dementia or Alzheimer’s.
